The story of Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez
Multicultural book
In this book about the story of Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez we learn about the story of how two normal people decided to rice up and dedicate their lives to obtain a safe working environment for the migrant workers. The book explains how their life was when they were little and how they felt about the kind of society they lived in. Dolores was inspired to become an activist because she would see the little children that showed up to her class when she was teaching. The children had no shoes and a lot of the times they were hungry. Cesar was boy who was always studious and when he saw the unfairness going on decided to become an activist that would fight for the migrant workers' rights.
This is a book that I would use in my class because it would help in tesching children how we are in a nation of diversity. This is a book appropriate for first grade to teach
a lessson on social studies.
